While the links of Vitamin D insufficiency to various diseases seem to be increasing by the week, there exists little to no evidence that replenishing Vitamin D translates to amelioration of the various implicated diseases.
However, since supplementation with inactive Vitamin D2/D3 or sensible regular sun exposure are next to harmless, why not top it up to above the current widely accepted “normal” level of 30 ng/ml (75 nmol/L)?
