EULAR revised recommendations for the management of fibromyalgia

Objective The original European League Against Rheumatism recommendations for managing fibromyalgia assessed evidence up to 2005. The paucity of studies meant that most recommendations were ‘expert opinion’.

Simple questionnaire’s diagnostic success approached that of a rheumatologist, investigators found.

It’s really not rocket science. Any rheumatologist worth his/her salt can tell the moment a fibromyalgic patient walks through the door. The bigger problem, in fact, is that the overwhelming confirmation bias may result in much more serious underlying conditions being missed: cancers, chronic infections, metabolic disorders and autoimmune diseases.
